[UA] New Years

Interesting factoid:  A loose coalition of rock-based
radio stations which aren't owned by the same umbrella
corporation appear to share an interest in an eerily
familiar New Years program for Auckland in New
Zealand.

I was at work today, and whenever the DJs were on
they'd finish up by solemnly wishing everyone a "Safe
and Happy New Year," and describing it as the Safe and
Happy New Year program.

First time I heard it caused a "Bu- bu- wha?" moment,
and it took a while for me to verify that they were
actually saying it.

Anyone else hearing things like this?  Or as another
option, was the Mak Attax Safe and Happy New Year
program based on a regular promotion in the states
which has filtered down here, and I don't have a grasp
of the roots?

Either way, kind of surreal for too-early on Christmas
Eve in a videostore.
