Well, it need not be a family unit but perhaps symbols
of the archetypes.

Blackbirds can be seen as magpies or semiotically
sinister.

Twenty-four is 3x8 or 4x6 or 2x12. Perhaps the
original letters of the Alphabet indicating the
blackbirds are the words of the world biting the gods.

Perhaps the Pie wasn't Sweetie enough because the
Queen was eating all the honey.
