[UA] Vin Diesel, avatar of...?

I was thinking about a forum discussion about Vin Diesel a while back.
Someone had mentioned that in recent interviews, Vin had started acting more
and more...saying "more and more gay" might be disingenuous, but he
certainly led a lot of the audience to think that, without actually saying
anything.

Anyway, I got to thinking about earlier conversations about him. Apparently,
no one could guess at his ethnicity; any number of possiblities seem equally
likely; he's played black characters, Jewish ones, Italian, and so on, but
he's never said anything about his own background in that regard.

Somehow, this air of deliberate mystery strikes me as avatar beahvior: the
man everyone can recognize, but who no one knows anything about. Does this
make sense to anyone, and if so, what archetype would this be? Does anyone
else fit the mold?
