I'd say that hightens the ambiguity, just for that reason.

The Mystic Hermaphrodite does center largely around literal gender
ambiguity, though that doesn't necessarily have to be a part of his public
persona. I guess if we hear about Vin Diesel wandering around North
Hollywood in drag, we'll know what's up.
