PDF and the Internet change the dynamics of the RPG field a LOT. In
Olden Times, to find out about exciting new products you had to either
(1) subscribe to a gamer magazine like Dragon or SHADIS or (2) go to
the FLGS and receive the wisdom of the grognard behind the counter.
Now, you just log on and click. Similarly, back in the dark ages to
BUY a game book you had to either (1) buy it from a catalogue that you
got because you were a magazine subscriber, (2) get it at a convention
or (3) go to that FLGS again. Now? Click click click.

See what's getting cut out of the loop? Mr. Grognard's Olde Tyme
Dungeon and Game Shoppe.

With my next game, REIGN, I'm doing the main rule book as a Lulu
Print-On-Demand. If it seems worth doing, I'll flog it at conventions,
maybe try to get some kind of distribution deal going... but all the
supplements are going to be PDFs, and they'll all be free in perpetuity
once they're paid for via the Ransom Method. Don't like PDFs? Once
there are enough supplements to justify it, I'll put 'em all into a
Lulu compendium and sell it as a POD hard copy. (What's sweet for me
is that when/if people buy that hard copy, it'll be like getting paid
twice for the same writing!)
