[UA] 'Vanishing Point' a UA Movie?

I love 'Vanishing Point' but never thought of it as a UA Movie? But you are 
damn right about it looking like Kowalski is trying to Ascend as the Rebel 
Without A Cause. This is why the remake annoys me so much - they give 
Kowalski (now played by Viggo Mortenson) a proper heroic reaosn to race 
across the country (his wife is in labour).

I didn't get the vibe that he was a loser so much as he turned his back on 
his previous jobs as a cop or racing car driver out of disgust at mdoern 
society.
