You may also want to look at the websites for our local "alternative" 
weekliy papers, the big ones being Citylife and The Las Vegas Weekly (I put 
alternative in quotes as both papers are actually owned by established large 
newspapers).  They're good for getting some background color, like local 
band shows and art exhibits, but also a good guide to what people are 
arguing about here.
