I like the idea of a suicidal metacity, like a whale
trying to beach itself. The city itself can be an
amalgamation of dead buildings from all over the
country. In some way the city is the ghost of new and
forgotten culture.

I think Peter David tried something like this with the
city of Bete Noir in his comic series Fallen Angel.

I use John Tynes' example of an urban otherspace
landscape in A Few of My Favourite Things as the
template for the Ghost City.

The Ghost City is bits and pieces of all cities from
all civilizations with dreamlike weirdness and a large
population of nonentities and confused, accidental
astral projectors.

Perhaps Terminus is the dreamy mirror of Atlanta.
