In every society, there are outcasts. Economic divisions are the most
obvious and the easiest to spot.
Hell, anyone see south park last night? Night of the Living Homeless?
Homeless are change-feeding zombies. Kill them or they'll consume
you.
That doesn't seem just economic; most of the homeless I've seen are
batshit crazy, dope addicts, or both. Nothing like winning friends
and influencing people by pissing yourself while arguing with your
invisible friend.
Dragging this towards some sort of point: Outcasts tend to make
"regular" people nervous. Take one of them out, and no one will make
much of a fuss.
Outcast is a society dependent variable, of course.
