[UA] Help me out . . . (Zombie Apocalypse)

Oddly enough, I've written the first part of a zombie-based adventure, but
it's less of an unnatural disaster and more of a conspiracy; a veterinarian
Thanatomancer, for reasons both many and various, decides to go on a
carefully organized sacrifice spree and begins to stick oodles of demons
into the corpses of the people in a small town in Oklahoma. But his plan is
thwarted by an oddball group of people brought together by circumstance, as
is par for the course. The logistics are fairly simple, in that every
demon-in-a-corpse tricks further living people into getting sacrificed,
until the remaining people notice something is horribly wrong and the town
is cut off from the world.

The key point is that the zombies in most zombie movies and games are like
forces of nature; they just keep coming and they are as unyeilding and
unsympathetic as earthquakes, tornados, and IRS agents. In this story, they
are a small force just barely held together by the leadership of the
Thanatomancer and his seconds-in-command, so that four Airborne Rangers and
a member of the Chaplain Corps could take them out as long as nobody failed
more than one Unnatural check.

It's loosely based on the Half Life mod They Hunger by Neil Manke, with
tidbits of the upcoming game BioShock and a number of obscure references to
Call of Duty.

But as far as how all the undead would rise up in a Romero-esque manner...
that's easy. The Knocking Box is full and she cannae take no more, captain.
When there is no more room in hell, the demons will walk the earth.

Subject: [UA] Help me out . . . (Zombie Apocalypse)

I'm running a 3-shot in which the players are all mundanes experiencing a
Dawn-Of-The-Dead like scenario. We're using (most of) the UA ruleset, and
because I'm a fan of the system I've decided to sneakily make it a UA
mini-campaign.

To make a long story short, consider a cabal consisting of:

1) A zombie-obsessed videomancer that happened to play a starring role in 28
Weeks Later (major charge = bringing a fictional character to life)

2) A dipsomancer with access to wines from the vineyard of the Marquis de
Sade (let us suppose that through this and other sources he can gain one or
more major charges -- and with a major charge, a dipsomancer can bring back
the dead)

3) An irascimancer recently appearing at major sporting events, urinating on
the flag of the country hosting the event (again, assuming he survived,
several major charges possible here).

It would seem not beyond the realm of possibility (and GM mandate) that such
a cabal could reasonably start up a Zombie Apocalypse after you throw all of
those major charges into a nice big pool o' crazy. Even more fun, because
there's a videomancer involved, he's worked some mojo that essentially makes
certain avatars of the Chronicler walking video cameras (including,
unbeknownst to the player, one of the characters in the game). The video
feed is being shown live at the Coolidge Theatre in Boston during the mass
chaos (which is all happening in and around Boston).

That's most of the setup. Here's where I could use a hand -- it seems to me
that this is a little too intricate for a bunch of nutty adepts to plan on
their own. Right now, I have the ex-boyfriend of the roommate of the
Chronicler character as the Mastermind behind the whole thing . . . but
exactly why he's doing this, I haven't figured out yet.

Is he trying to ascend/become a godwalker of a certain avatar? If so, which?

Is he an old-school Authentic Thaum. sorcerer getting in over his head after
finding some major artifact allowing him to do this?

Help me out, please -- I'd love to hear ideas about what kind of guy would
orchestrate a Zombie Apocalypse if they had the power to do so . . .
