Any plans to include that most modern of myth cycles, urban legends?
Sure, they aren't quite Gods, neither in the established identity sense of
Odin and Zeus and Krishna, nor are they Gods in the unspoken sense of Media
and Money, like Chris and Neil Gaiman had it.
They're more those folktales and folk creatures - those things you know are
out there, but which you've never seen first hand. At least, not yet.
*The Hook Handed Killer has started to wane since the years of 1950.
Psychosexual fears have changed, and the Hook Handed Killer is starting to
wonder if he should change as well.
*The Phantom Hitchhiker is still stuck, following those highway ley lines.
Maybe she was a real person at some time. Maybe she had a name, an identity
that didn't shift every time she got into that car, which car, every car.
Maybe once she had a tombstone that was her own, and wasn't given to her
because _everyone_ knows that she's got to have a tombstone!
Maybe some day people will forget. And then she can go home.
Not sure if these were the ideas and themes you were quite going for. Just
something off the top of my head.
One final note - the urban myths are self-cleaning. They're real, they
happen, but somehow after the fact, everything gets smoothed away. Take a
picture of an exploding cactus? Nope. Once you make it back to the real
world, it gets smoothed out, blurry and indistinct.
Why? Well, as much as people know these things exist... they also know they
can't possibly exist. All those smart people and debunkers can't find any
proof, so the proof must not exist.
