There's another interesting contradiction here. Since conservatives are
also, generally, more opposed to anything that smacks of "welfare state"
and more in favor of harsh laws that have the greatest impact on the poor,
it can be said that they favor -- even encourage -- oppressing the poor.
At the same time, they favor allowing the "oppressed masses" access to
semiautomatic weapons. So, basically, our conservative would-be demagogues
are the stupidest ever, right up there with the ones who don't pay their
mercenary armies. :)
There's an adept form in there someplace, related to the Demagogue
archetype... The person who gets charges by acting in a negative way
towards individuals or groups, while giving them all the tools and reasons
they need to oppose him, and gets away with it.
