I find this a lot here in the US with the often-heard "why don't they
just get a job?" comment regarding the homeless.

It's also amusing that the largest consumers of welfare money in the
United States are southern states, who tend to vote more on the
conservative side of things.

This is another staple of the American image: trailer parks, filled
with welfare mothers and poorly-educated deadbeat dads.
