Because the South seceded to protect the Constitution from those soulless
Yankee industrialists, it was never about slavery, really, trust me on this.
Honestly, I have heard people down here in Georgia make essentially that
argument.
Random Fact of the Day: The original Constitution of the Confederate Sates
of America is in the University of Georgia library (in Athens, Georgia, also
home to REM and the B-52s) and it is displayed every Confederate Memorial
Day.
