Yeah, but not generations living in the same place.

There's a good bit of mobility between states and cities.  I still
live in Ohio, but my mother and both sisters now live in different
parts of the country.

Hell, I moved back here from living in Japan and bouncing around Asia,
Australia, Africa and the Middle East for almost 10 years.

So I think frequent relocations tend to diminish the impact of place
as a cultural identifier.

Now, sports team affiliation... damn.
