Often times we do, said the Iowan, but identifying myself as an Iowan  
and as an American of German and Italian descent isn't any kind of  
contradiction.  Besides, lots of cities have ethnic ties deep in  
their cities, so being an Irish Bostonian can almost be seen as  
redundant.  He's Polish and from Chicago?  Oooh, big surprise.
