I agree wholeheartedly with this sentiment. I believe
the best is a 50-50 mix.
I believe the plot elements should be loose and
somewhat free-floating (I prefer to connect them with
a time-line of events and work form there). I also
shunt time in large chunks so that people do not get
bored or hijacking the group with over-wrought and
unnecessary character testimonials.
