A comment about the Caustic Brunette's being a supporting character
reminds me of an archetype I'd been thinking about a few days ago. Don't
you think there's enough of a pan-cultural presence for the Best Friend to
ascend? The channels would probably involve healing Failed notches and
maybe physical damage, sensing when your friend is in need - the effects
might be similar to the Mother.
What occurred to me immediately after that was the image of two best
friends in the Underground realizing that they're channeling an Avatar at
high levels and have a shot at being a Godwalker. But to get there, they
have to keep the taboo: to help and support their chosen Friend. It's got
me picturing one friend hiring an assassin and (ritually) sacrificing
himself to save the other, thus ascending to the Clergy in the moment of
death as the one who lives shakes his fist and curses him. Now *that's* a
conflict of interest.

The voyage of the best ship is a zigzag line of a hundred tacks. See the
line from a sufficient distance, and it straightens itself to the average
tendency. Your genuine action will explain itself, and will explain your
other genuine actions. Your conformity explains nothing.
