Writing from a Swedish perspective....

First, a parenthesis, I have played with my home city as a setting several
times, with great results. Haven't had any players wanting to meet
themselves, but it's easy, they do not exist. I also throw them some
"markers" that signifies that this is not, in fact, the Jönköping they
know.

The thing about the US is, that since it's so very present in our TV and
cinemas, the entire continent has, for me at least, a vibe of "where
stories happen", so much so that it takes a (small but still) conscious
effort to imagine any story as set somewhere else.

Re: [UA] Yanks rolling through Europe
Hmm... do you, in the US, use your OWN cities as settings? GUess not. When
i have tried to do that it ends in manheim, when a player knows certain
places better then the GM, also, they tend to go visiting their own homes,
trying to find themseleves in real life and kindda :-7 .

My point was would a european-settled game be interesting for US players?
Or is Europe a far unknown place for you? Or does it seem too much the
same?
