There's a similar write-up in the English edition as well.  Definitely
a good thing for a storyteller to know, although the wide variety of
firearm laws in the US makes any simple write up a challenge.

For example, in Chicago private ownership of handguns is forbidden.
Outside of Chicago, but in the rest of Illinois a state-issued
firearms owner identification card (FOID) is required, in addition to
the federal background checks.

However, head south to Indiana and no state-issued FOID card is
required, although federal background check requirements are of course
still in place.

Also, while the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban has sunset nationally, some
states  ( Like Massachusetts ) still maintain state-level bans which
are similar in scope.  So while Insom Niac ( A Sleeper ) can easily
find a 17 round magazine for his Glock 17 in Gary, Indiana he'd be out
of luck in Boston, and likely arrested for possetion of a Glock in
Chicago.
