[UA] Preferred campaign style?

Hrm, I always figured Cosmic would make the best LARP level as it would all be about not so much what you do but how you do it... and there would be a lot less people looking to solve their problems with their fists at that point. More trying to do each other in through complex symbolic actions and painted up virgin dolls as opposed to a cursed .45. However, global is my favorite level to run at, well, more like a mix between global and street.

When I started running UA it was strait up street (well, it was 1st ed, but everyone was vanilla normals who's battle cry tended to be OMGWTF and Run AWAY Run AWAY... form everything. But eventually I let some adepts in, some avatars, and a bit more knowledge about what's "really" going on. I find my players tend to take to UA a bit more if they feel like their characters have a bit more of a handle on "what's really going on". Though the best character so far has been the one that survived the all street level campaign to make it to the global level (and is just 7 points from becoming a sociopath... I can't wait!).

I've been a touch stuck with the Reality Cops type of set up since the git-go, and while it's great, I've been dying to try a more self driven cabal with weird-assed goal type of game. As it is right now, the stories have revolved around taking down X, the crazed adept bent on murder / raising dead family / showing the world the beauty of living without the burden of limbs. Sort of a very reactionary formula... they do something, the "heroes" rush in to stop them or clean their clock for doing what ever vile thing it was they did (or not so vile... what ever). I'd kill for a story where the characters were the instigators, the ones who start events in motion... I just gotta keep that dream alive. At least one of the characters now is pulling the story along for the soul sake of revenge, so I guess I'm half way there... it does my heart good!

some of you may have.

We always play as a Live Action Game. It makes UA so much more thrilling--
the characters, which seem so farfetched at points, are real and in front of
you and shouting. I personally like to play at global level highest. And in
our games, we usually have a mix of avatars and adepts-- and we play so that
we don't necessarily focus on one part of the game, but many vital parts. UA
is amazing, to me, because it's our world so you are familiar with it--
everyone knows what New Orleans is like. It's not a made up setting so that
everyone has a different perception-- you are all seeing close to the same
thing playing in your imagination. But then it gets weird. It's a mix of
normal and what we recognize every day, and then you add this totally
twisted thing into it, this one event that leads you to discover how many
more layers there are to this world, and the cosmos, than what we normally
see and take for granted every day. I like my games to have it all. For my
character to have a peek and see something, and realize how much more is out
there and how it is all connected. To explore until she dies, or becomes a
godwalker, or goes completely insane.

That's what I like.
