Youn could make him a Fifth Columnist - a Nazi
Sympathiser. Many ordinary, middle class people
admired and agreed with the Nazi party. After the war

I think the 50s were the Atomic Age. It was already
ray guns, flying saucers, and bug-eyed alien
foreigners. Clockworkers would be part of another age.

This is also the Beat Generation and Jack Kerouac's On
The Road. Many US military men left to bum around on
bikes and form gangs. This could be a perfect cover
for a mobile cabal.
