I'm cutting my long-winded preface and jumping right to the point.
What UA adventures (if any) do you feel like don't really mesh with the tone of 2nd Edition UA vs. 1st? For example, a lot of the "weird" adventures just don't seem to work. I love to *read* them, but in playing them, the players don't like having these things inflicted on them. Specifically, I just read Joy & Sorrow, and while I enjoyed it a ton, I'm not sure it really fits the tone of the 2nd edition game. In some ways, I think that's why we have so much trouble with "A Few of My Favorite Things." In a horror game, helplessness is expected. In a game about power and consequence, the players expect their characters to have a certain amount of control (i.e. they have to have power in order to reap the consequences).
Besides listing these things, do you think that these adventures can be altered to fit the tone? For example, I've run Bill in 3 Persons three times now, and it has been with mixed results. I ran Pinfeathers (which, reading it, I thought would stink), and it was wildly successful. The next time I do Bi3P, I'm going to put in an active element for the players. They will have to seek out Bill for some reason or another, and end up causing the split somehow. Then they can fix it.
Questions? Thoughts? Feelings you'd like to get out in the open?
Jonathan
