They say Never judge a book by it's cover... but alot of people do.
I love the Transcendental Horror... I hate Power and Consquences. Too me
when I first introduced UA to my players they saw the cover of the guy
splayed out on the table and thought now that's cool. And then the cover of
the second edition makes the game more of a superhero-ish nature. I guess to
appease the x-men/marvel crowd? You know the saying 'with great power comes
great responsiblity'... but hey that's just me.
I love idea behind the 1st edition of UA it was a Stanley Krubrick/David
Lynch/Stephen King/Clive Barker world combined with enough weirdness to
intrigue the players. The cover of the 1st edition of UA is so cool, dark
and foreboding that maybe it just scared away potential players/GM... though
with the new purple rain/new mutants-ish cover it managed to snag a couple
of people.
I still play the first edition with the BOHICA and OOACOWA. I love the
Carnals, the fairies and the clockwork girl that has the night shift over at
the 7-11. But, I sort of old fashioned that way.
