Yeah, you just may have gotten the two switched up but it's fine, your point is still pretty clear.
 
I guess it kinda could be cheating to just allow a fictional character to exist in your reality.  
 
I can't see though why iconomancy wouldn't branch out into the more popular fictional characters.  After all, I think that a lot of people idolize them more than real living people, and sadlyY some "real" people are more fictional than any film or novel protagonist.
 
My knowledge of all the different avatars and adepts is rusty, but since I successfully ran my first UA game this past week I'm definately gonna reread all the books.
