[UA] A little more on the Seven Gates of Hell...

Hmmm. Kind of reminds me of the Shalebridge Cradle in Thief: Deadly Shadows. 
A building that served as mental asylum, orphanage, and poorhouse... all at 
the same time, but you don't find THAT out in-game until you're inside the 
structure searching for clues in the debris. The game designers planned it 
that way, I think.

When a fire killed everybody, staff and patients and orphans alike, the 
combined suffering and misery and madness gave the building a sort of 
limited sentience and an almost unlimited supply of supernatural power. The 
surviving Residents were re-animated and became possibly the most disturbing 
enemy ever put into the Thief series. Personally I'd still rather tangle 
with them than the giant spiders in the first two games, but maybe that's 
just me.

The Cradle basically exists both as the original building, now deteriorating 
and very charred, and as a sort of stitch in time, a pinched off loop of 
spacetime or history where the entire building is still intact, reffered to 
in-game as the Cradle's Memory.

The irony of this Seven Gates of Hell thing, with its mental asylum 
connection, is that last night I had decided to write up something like this 
for Unknown Armies, how an institution with a Madi and an erstwhile major 
charge became a supernatural hotspot and short-lived OU battleground.
