Stross' view of magic is that it leaves very little
room for UA magick and UA magick is partisan
weirdness.

It might serve you better to peel off UA form its
mechanics and just ALT.COC.STROSS the whole thing from
scratch. The UA Madness Meters make way more sense in
Stross' universe than the old BRP Insanity Spiral.
