  And I got to thinking. 
   
  Perhaps Terminal City is a physical manifestation of the Invisible College. Perhaps each and every one of the Avatars has a physical presence here, a being who may or may not know that s/he is connected to the Avatar, but simply enacts the nature of the Avatar. 
   
  Perhaps normal people have moved to this small town. Perhaps they've unknowingly made lives for themselves among the Avatars, unaware of what they're in daily contact with. Perhaps they've even formed relationships and bonds with the Avatars. Perhaps there have even been children born of these relationships. 
   
  Perhaps there's a nearby "state-run" asylum that is actually a doorway to all of the Rooms of Renunciation.
   
  I imagine that Terminal City would be a rather surreal place. In fact, I imagine it's a lot like the fictional towns of Twin Peaks or Potters Lake (the latter from the RPG "Heaven & Earth").
