Why do people keep making this mistake?
Men can and do channel the mother. 
The flying woman wont allow men, but the mother is open to nurturing caregivers of both sexes.
I've had three different males channel the mother in my campaigns so far.
To me this is just the first man who has managed to access the third channel, which even men more closely attuned to the avatar haven't (since the third only works when pregnant)- although in my campaign I had an artifact of the mother that made you count as pregnant when worn, allowing one male avatar to use this channel.
But I agree, that kid is going to be born slightly attuned to the mystic hermaphrodite, and his nurturing parents could easily groom him into becoming the new godwalker when hes older.
