Perhaps Authentic Thaumaturgy is more prevalent outside of the US / EU
( representing a socially conservative bent ).

Immigration patterns bring people from places where Thaumaturgy is
dominant into contact with Adepts / Avatars.  Conflict ( hilarity? )
ensues.
