I just see adept magick as a staple of sorcery not a
new face. I think not that this is progressive against
traditionalists. This is a clash between those with
mad, all-consuming personal ambition and those with
fear of absurd and abnormal.

I would not ascribe social models to individuals.
Social models are the domain of the constellation of
archetypes.

By your argument, I see it as a not a clash between
authentic thaumaturgy and adepts but between sorcerers
and avatars - the individual's desires vs. the
pressure of social conformity.
