Hm.  I could see that.  A sort of Beauty and the Beast thing maybe.
Sure, in the fairy tales the kiss and marriage solves all problems,
but real life isn't like that.  You have to work to keep true love,
and as that slips the thing starts to spread out, like cancer.  And
once its gets too far it refuses to settle again.  The suicide was the
husband's desperate attempt to stop it, not realizing that it would
quicken faster in the earth.
