"PhantasieMechanik - Unsere neue Sonderausstellung" [1]is the name of
an exposition about "mechanical art". I have read about this thanks to
Time.com [2]:

"An hour's ride by high-speed train from Berlin, the Phaeno has
assembled 70 contemporary works that show the range of emotion and
ingenuity of kinetic artists. They have at least one thing in common:
"They're all completely obsessive," says Sarah Alexander of Cabaret
Mechanical Theatre, a museum of automata that brings its showcase of
10 British artists, including Paul Spooner, to the Phaeno."

I am not saying this is a mechanomancers conventions but sure there is
someone in it, and, although all the works don´t have to be magical
artifacts sure some of them are the, mundane, creation of an obsessive
adept.
