Seconded. Its occultism, if it's real (and I don't think it's said
one way or the other if it is), is low-level stuff. The monsters out
there are all human; it's their motives (and in at least one issue,
their beliefs) that make them dangerous.

Besides, Ben Templesmith's artwork is perfect stuff for a gritty weird-
noir comic such as this.

OK, how about turning this around and seeing how to best fit in comics
into UA. After watching Iron Man (which I enjoyed), I got the crazy
idea to make a one-shot about a budding mechanomancer whose need to
tinker gets him over his head. In the process of building a suit to
aid him, he starts tacking on fantastic abilities to the harness. Not
too much later, he's invested so much of his memory and identity into
generating charges that he fills in the blanks with some old comics --
maybe some about a pre-Comics Code tale of a clockwork vigilante. By
day, he's a mild-mannered (but weird!) guy in a wheelchair. By night,
he's the Steam-Powered Colossus, enacting bloody vengeance on
(mis-)perceived evildoers.

The thing that I haven't thought out is -- how would he not light up
like a beacon to the OU? Wouldn't the Sleepers take out something
this blatant as soon as they caught wind of it? (Maybe that's the
point -- maybe the PCs could be the Sleepers, or at least cross paths
with them.)
