Comics, hey?
There's not really a lot of comics that are UAdapable
since most of the urban fantasy comics have big flashy
special effects and fire-wreathed demons.
Hellblazer
The far majority of Hellbalzer is not particularly UA,
except for these mentions.
Warren Ellis has always put on a low-key face to the
supernatural. I thoroughly recommend his two collected
stints on Hellblazer as strongly UA, in theme and
flavour. These are the Haunted and Setting Sun. The
tone is far more of a Sherlock Holmesian private
investigator of the occult underground and part time
magical vigilante.
I would also recommend Brian Azarello's similar run on
Hellblazer - specifically Hard Time - as excellent UA
fodder of the sorcerer in with the long timers in a
maximum security prison. The rest of Azarello's run
tended to wobble and fall apart from perhaps Highwater
or Freezes Over.
Alan Moore wrote one issue of a comic called Nightjar
which is also very UA in that sort of grungy UK UA
hidden behind the economy of council housing. I
believe it's collected in a compendium called Yuggoth
Cultures from Avatar Press. If you look, you may find
a lone issue hanging around in your comic book shop
(but the whole collection also has cool Lovecraftian
stuff too.
All the others appear to be solid choices, just not my
personal favourites.
If I think of more I'll post.
Cheers,
Chris.
