Well, since FDR died in office, who's to say that he wasn't successful in
rechannelling the True King to his own ends?  Extending the
scenario further, the Kennedy 'Camelot era' may have been a failed
attempt by Joseph Kennedy (JFK and RFK's father) to repeat Roosevelt's
'kingship ritual', the Kennedy assassinations being the unintended result of
his failure.
